Some words of context
In the field of ecology and biodiversity, the increase in data acquisition frequencies (field observations, optical sensors, radar sensors, remote sensing, water quality monitoring systems, automatic or semi-automatic Taxa census, sequencing, genotyping, etc.) has resulted in a considerable accumulation of heterogeneous and dispersed data that need to be organized, documented and sorted for use in research and operational support to the expertise.
The Indexmed consortium, renamed IndexMEED for "Indexing for Mining Ecological and Environmental Data", develops data classification and qualification processes, heterogeneous and remote. These processes make it possible to construct graphs from data on biodiversity and to use them for purposes of indication, decision support and formulation of new scientific hypotheses. The graphs allow to represent and to explore interactions between observation or experimentation objects, measured variables, parameters taken into account.
Graphs are one of the flagship axes for the development of new approaches, integrative analyzes and the representation of complex data for ecological research:
After two editions devoted to the indexing of data for the purpose of harmonizing information systems while respecting the objectives and the business constraints of the actors, the 3rd days in 2016 of the IndexMEED consortium highlighted this potential of the approaches based on the graphs - already tested in other areas of "big data" - for data mining as well as gaps in skills and experience of the ecology research community to adapt and use these approaches.
On the basis of this observation, the IndexMeed consortium organizes a series of transdisciplinary events in order to:
